Letter: Give me a reason

I have been a registered Republican since I first voted. I’ve never voted straight party line but tended to agree with many Republican values. After the 2016 election I am unable to see evidence of any Republican values. Dysfunction is the way things work at both the state and federal level. The 2020 election more Americans voted for President Biden and no matter how you feel he won both the popular vote and the Electoral College. A peaceful exchange of power would normally have occurred with the former president wishing his successor the best of luck and quietly gone off to new endeavors. You lose and no longer call the shots. Not with this ex-president.

He makes Republicans bow down and bend to his will. He threatens members of Congress and the Senate and pulls his support unless they vote his way. The bipartisan immigration legislation as an example, may not have addressed all of the concerns, but it was a good start. It was supported by the border guards, states on the border and other organizations. Instead, he torpedoed the legislation, and we have nothing. The immigration problem didn’t start with Biden, it’s been a millstone for many past presidents. I know this letter will probably not change anyone’s mind, but I must ask anyhow. What did Donald Trump and the Republicans do after the 2016 election and since that would warrant your continued support?
