GOP Chairwoman to step down in January

New Hampshire Republican Party Chairwoman Jennifer Horn said she is stepping down after two terms.

Horn, of Nashua, said Thursday she will retire from the State Committee when her term ends at the annual meeting Jan. 28, 2017.

Horn served for four years. Republican Gov.-elect Chris Sununu said her leadership has helped to both grow and strengthen the Republican Party in New Hampshire.

There was no immediate word on who would make a bid for the position.

Last year Donald Trump’s New Hampshire backers tried to oust Horn as chairwoman for calling Trump’s campaign shallow.

Horn was the 2008 GOP nominee in the 2nd Congressional District before losing to Democrat Paul Hodes. She ran again in 2010, losing the Republican primary to Charles Bass, the eventual winner.
