Letter: When people say ‘what he really meant’

Personally, when I hear the phrase “what he was trying to say” or “what he really means is,” I know the gaslighting is about to begin. When Republicans attempt to rephrase Trump’s own words, be prepared for trying to make everyone believe he didn’t say what he said. It is ridiculous and insulting, that somehow we misunderstood clearly spoken words and text.

Fox news is simply the worst when it comes to this type of double speak. I think it may have been called speaking with a forked tongue. To all you Fox viewers out there, stop wanting to let someone tell you what you want to hear, and take the words said by any politician at face value, and on the merits and quality of the statements made.
