I will be voting for Maggie Goodlander for Congress this November. It is ironic Lily Tang Williams is “an unapologetic supporter of former president Donald Trump” (Monitor, 9/24) when her campaign slogan is “I fear the country I love is becoming the country I left.” [Referring to China] Trump admires authoritarian dictators and wants to become one. He has no respect for the U.S. Constitution and refused to leave office peacefully after losing both the Electoral College vote and the popular vote.

Trump boasts about his desire to pardon January 6 insurrectionists and locking up his political opponents. He regularly discredits mainstream news organizations and wants to dismantle the institutions that protect our individual rights and freedom. Despite Trump’s rhetoric, he would make the U.S. government more like communist China. Lily Tang Williams, and all voters who want to preserve our democracy, should vote for Kamala Harris.
