Sadly, Republican Reps. Packard, Alexander, Yokela and a few others on the Republican side just don’t get it when it comes to the ‘Special’ Housing Committee (“Lawmakers say housing committee has more work to do,” (Monitor, 6/30). It should not be the state’s purview to tell towns what housing they can and cannot build. Towns have zoning for a reason and because it gives everyone a choice while maintaining property values and aesthetics.

And just like what they did with the Housing Appeals Board, the state should not be ‘stacking the deck’ to favor developers over middle-class homeowners. This is called corruption, and bowing to special interests. Legislators must make this stop. Voters must end the careers of those like Alexander, Yokela and others who are pushing the goals of Agenda 2030. It is not part of the Republican platform.
