Over 155 acres of land belonging to Plourde Sand & Gravel Company in Hooksett and Allenstown will be sold at foreclosure in two parcels at an auction Thursday. Both parcels have served as aggregate excavation sites under the company.
“They’re both significant properties,” said Justin Conway, director of auctions at Paul McInnis LLC Auctioneer. “They haven't been available until this time. It’s a good opportunity to get significant pieces of land. They both have great access to major roadways. The one in Allenstown has a substantial amount of road frontage.”
Property A, located at 523-527 West River Road in Hooksett, totals over 87 acres. It is currently a sand and gravel pit in the town’s industrial zone. According to the auction notice, the site sits on Route 3A behind the I-93 travel center. It also abuts the Boston and Maine Railroad and has a service facility of around 9,270 square feet. The parcel’s assessed value lies is $4,401,866.
The Allenstown lot, totaling around 68.2 acres as Property B, sits in the town’s business zone, with around 1,548 feet of the property along Route 3, around 3,785 feet along Granite Street, and around 1,412 feet along Old Chester Turnpike, according to the notice. The site also has an office building totaling around 1,390 square feet. This property’s assessed value sits at $1,372,200.
Conway said he never knows what the outcome of an auction will be, which is what he finds exciting about the work. Nor does he know what the land will become afterward.
“We sell what we have,” he said. “Different bidders certainly have different ideas.”
The auction for both properties will take place at noon at the Hooksett site at 523-527 West River Road. Conway said interested buyers should arrive at 11 a.m. to register for the auction. The deposit to bid is $50,000.
