A Portsmouth man was arrested following a two-month police investigation into conversations he was suspected of having with a Canterbury minor.

Taylor Milne, 36, was charged with “Certain Uses of Computer Services Prohibited,” which accuses him of trying to seduce, solicit, lure or entice a child into sexual assault, indecent exposure or other danger. He also is charged with endangering the welfare of a child, police said.

Canterbury Police Chief Justin Crotty said his department worked with the Portsmouth Police Department and the New Hampshire Internet Crimes Against Children task force to investigate Milne. Police said they began the investigation when a girl living in Canterbury approached her high school resource officer about the conversations.

Milne is suspected of having contacted the student over social media using a pseudonym. The internet crimes task force is now in possession of his phone, police said.

“Parents should know what platforms their children are on and what they’re doing on that platform,” Crotty said.

He also said he hopes other victims will come forward.

A representative for the Portsmouth Police Department could not share further details about Milne’s arrest but said the investigation remains ongoing.
