The end of Bishop Brady-Trinity-Londonderry’s girls’ hockey season wasn’t representative of how successful the 2022-23 campaign was for the three-school co-op. Bishop Guertin steamrolled Brady, 8-1, in the Division I semifinals, outshooting BTL 35-4 for the game.

Still, head coach Dan Earley and his team finished the year 14-5-0, despite a roster of only 11 players. Sophomore goalie Kacey Yorston carried a heavy load between the pipes, frequently helping keep her team in games.

Because of the small roster, Earley had to have his players better conditioned than most teams they faced. The level of intense preparation paid off in the quarterfinals, a 5-2 win over Concord, but the group just ran out of gas against a talented BG team.

“I couldn’t be happier with the girls this year,” Earley said after the BG loss. “They worked very hard right until the end. That’s what it’s all about: their dedication, their effort. We won some very tough games because they willed their way through it.

“Beating Concord was a highlight, for sure. We’re only losing one senior; hopefully we’ll build on what we have and come back stronger next year.”

Bryana Sanuth is the only graduating senior on the roster.

Meanwhile, Concord finished the year 13-6-0. The Tide’s high point was a 10-game winning streak from early January to early February, but the team struggled a bit down the stretch, losing four of its final six games.

Throughout the season, head coach Tim Herbert could consistently rely on contributions from seniors Leah Beauregard, Greta Norton and Sophia Branch. Norton and Beauregard anchored the defense, while Branch provided production on the front line.

Beauregard scored 15 goals and had nine assists during the year, ending her career with 62 total points. Norton had 10 goals, 13 assists and a career total of 50 points. Branch found the back of the net 13 times and wrapped up her high school career with 77 points.

Outside of Beauregard, Norton and Branch, goalie Taylor Lamb and forward Sarah Potter are the two other graduating seniors.

“We have a young team,” Herbert said after the season-ending loss to BTL. “We had great senior leadership, but it was a rebuilding year for us. It’s a young team. Much of that team is returning next year. We’re excited to see how they progress.”

Kearsarge was the final area school to participate in girls’ hockey this season, forming a co-op with Lebanon and Stevens. The team finished the season 9-8-0 and lost, 3-2, in the first round of the playoffs against Keene-Monadnock-Fall Mountain.
