Girls’ Volleyball

Coe-Brown 3, Hanover 2

Key players: Coe-Brown – Kelli Daniel (12 kills, 4 aces), Haile Comeau (perfect serve reception, 7 aces), Sam Arnesen (huge serving run in the 5th set)

Highlights: Coe-Brown regrouped in the locker room after dropping the third and fourth sets, winning the deciding fifth set to open the season with a victory. 

Coach’s quote: “Hanover is big, athletic and scrappy. They pushed us hard tonight and we struggled with confidence at times. I was so proud of the team for refocusing before the fifth set and pulling off a very gritty win.” – Coe-Brown’s Renee Zobel

Highlights: The Tornadoes looked solid throughout the entire match, winning in straight sets, 25-13, 25-16, 25-23. Franklin came from a six-point deficit in the third set, tied the game and then pulled ahead for the win.

Highlights: Thresher made a total of 11 saves, including three especially impressive ones to secure Brady’s first victory of the season.

Key players: Hopkinton – Julia Chapin (2 goals), Sadie Serzans (goal, assist), Belle Serzans (goal, 2 assists), Paige Prisco-Nelson (goal), Avery Loew (3 saves, clean sheet), Sofia Upton (midfield), Kennedy Mark (midfield), Marcella Guadagno (wing play)

Highlights: The Hawks only led by one goal after a back-and-forth first half, but played much better in the second half in all aspects of the game with pressure, passing, and relentless attacking.

Coach’s quote: “I was surprised by the way our team finished the game. I was worried in the first half because we did not look like we were playing all that well. We only had two subs after a couple of injuries in preseason. Nice clean game by both teams.” – Hopkinton’s Mike Zahn
