Pembroke is holding a public hearing Thursday on the proposed town, sewer commission, water works and school district budgets for 2023-2024. The hearings are an opportunity for members of the public to weigh in on the budgets before Town Meeting in March.
Pembroke, which uses a traditional town meeting system, will have ballot voting March 14 for elected officials and a Town Meeting on March 18 to vote on the budget and warrant articles. The school district annual meeting is March 11.
The proposed town operating budget for Pembroke is $10.6 million not including warrant articles, a 6.7% increase over the current operating budget of $10 million.
The proposed school operating budget for Pembroke’s three schools – Pembroke Academy, Hill School and Three Rivers School – is $29.7 million, a 3.4% increase over the current school budget of $28.7 million.
The estimated tax impact for school and town combined is $29.06 per $1,000 of property valuation, a tax increase of 16.7%.
For those looking to attend in person or participate, the budget hearing will be held at the Pembroke Academy Auditorium, 209 Academy Rd at 7 p.m.
