The Route 3 Art Trail tour is a fun driving art tour on Saturday, Nov. 4 from 10 to 3. This year, the trail has expanded to 15 locations starting in the north end of Concord, meandering up through Penacook and Boscawen, then cruising north to Franklin. Enjoy open studios, art and craft demonstrations, a free raffle, a local art tour, small giveaways and many other goodies along the way.
This year’s tour includes a wide variety or artists, artisans and craftsmen. Painting, jewelry, photography, sculpture, handmade furniture, woodworking and fiber art of all varieties can be found along the way. Several independent creative businesses will have special activities planned for the day and many will host a featured artist in their space.
Two makerspaces have joined in the festivities this year. Concord Makerspace has a new location and will be giving tours and equipment demonstrations. The new Franklin Makerspace has arranged for several Makerspace artists to showcase their work at three downtown locations. They have also created an art tour of downtown Franklin. Meet tour guide and artist Colby Hill on the hour at Outdoor New England to take the tour.
Twiggs Gallery’s holiday showcase Sleighbell Studio will open for the season and feature work from an additional 20 artists. All the work is hand crafted and affordably priced for holiday gift giving. The Route 3 Art Trail was conceived by local artist and Twiggs Gallery founder Adele Sanborn. She pitched the idea of building an arts corridor with a driving tour designed to encourage people to enjoy local art, artists and creative New Hampshire businesses along the Route 3 corridor.
Details of each participant along with a downloadable map and raffle “passport” are available at route3arttrail.com. Start on either end of the tour and make a day of it!
