Cars and Coffee on Capitol held its last event of the season on Sunday with a variety of makes and models parked downtown. From 8 to 11 a.m. various cars rumbled in, parked with hoods up as the crowd meandered on Capitol Street in Concord. The event, hosted by Revelstoke Coffee shop, has been held every second Sunday monthly since April. It’s free to participate in, and to view.

The event brought old cars, new cars, and some many attendees had probably never seen before, including a replica of a 1965 Birkin, which was built in South Africa, according to owner Bill Gordon, 83, of Loudon, who sat alongside this unique two-seater in a folding chair.

The vehicle is modeled after the Lotus Super Seven, Gordon said, and was built in 2001.

“It’s a lot of fun,” he said. “I play with this car. I’m always doing something new to it.”

This was Gordon’s second time at Cars and Coffee, and his first time bringing a vehicle. A retired software engineer, he has loved cars since elementary school.

“Software engineers, you can’t tell them, ‘You can’t do it,’” he said. “You just do it.”
