Highlights: After a 35-minute delay to start due to storms on Friday night, Lapierre found the net twice in the first half while Maggie Escabi scored to give CBNA a 3-0 lead going into the second half. Keene answered with a goal in the 50th minute, but another Lapierre goal and a final goal from freshman Ellie Escabi pushed the score to 5-1. Scruton’s five saves secured her first varsity win.

Coach’s quote: “We were glad we were able to play with the weather this week and eight days between games. It was a little sloppy at times, but the girls were unselfish with five assisted goals on the day. Liv Blad and Kylie Prusia were huge on defense again, while Lily Wolf played a great game that won't be seen in stats but made a difference on the field. Highlights: Loto opened the scoring for the game with a header off a cross from Franke to carry a 1-0 lead to the half. Lebanon tied the game in the 60th minute, but Lapierre followed an Escabi shot and finished the rebound to put Coe-Brown ahead 2-1. Freshman Demers scored her first varsity goal to provide insurance off an Escabi assist.

Coach’s quote: “It was our second game in 16 hours and we could have been flat, but the senior leadership and play of Wolf, Ball, Loto, Prusia and Wells provided the support and push we needed to secure the win against a tough Lebanon team. Highlights: A 45-minute weather delay didn’t dampen the Hawks’ performance as they handed the Cougars their first loss of the season.

Coach’s quote: “We played well enough to beat a very good Campbell team. They are not a team that I want to meet in playoffs. They are very organized and skilled. We’ve only had one practice this week because of heat. No practice the day before each win this week, so I think the girls were hungry to just play and prove themselves.” – Hopkinton’s Mike Zahn

Key players: Hopkinton – Liam Boyle (goal), Avery Condon (goal), Colby Boissy (2 saves, assist), Owen Wuellenweber (assist)

Highlights: Condon collected a Boissy punt in the sixth minute to put Hopkinton up 1-0 early and Boyle scored in the 35th minute, connecting on a left-footed strike from outside the box to give the Hawks a 2-0 lead. Campbell got on the board two minutes later, off a corner kick but Hopkinton held on for the win. The game was called after 55 minutes of play due to thunder and lightning.

Girls’ Volleyball

Coe-Brown 3, Souhegan 2

Highlights: The Bears overcame an early deficit to win in five sets, 18-25, 25-19, 25-10, 19-25, 15-9.

Coach’s quote: “Souhegan brought aggressive serving and tenacious defense tonight. That and, the heat, really hit us in set one and we were playing like six individuals and not a team.
