Key players: Franklin – Maddie Doherty (21-for-23 kill attempts, 6 kills), Savannah McPhail (11 digs, 8-for-9 passes, defense), Lily Cornell (11-for-13 kill attempts, 6 kills, 2 blocks)

Highlights: Doherty and Cornell worked well together at the net, and Cornell made a key kill in the fourth set to lift the Golden Tornadoes to a 20-25, 25-16, 25-18, 25-20 victory over the Rams.

Key players: MV – Carysn Perkins (2 goals), Logan Vong (2 goals), Carter Lankhorst (first varsity goal, defense), Vuk Korasic (goal), Rutger Gilliland (goal), Owen Piper (assist, defense), Eli Wormald (defense), Jonas Weed (defense), Alex McPherson (defense), Kaidan Tucker (defense), Trevor Simonds (shutout)

Highlights: Perkins opened up MV’s scoring with a strike from 25 yards out and then scored again five minutes later on a ball played over the top by Piper. Lankhorst’s first varsity goal came on a header from a throw in by Will McPherson. The Pride led 6-0 at halftime and Korasic was able to put one more in the back of the net in the second half on a rebound off a free kick from Ryan Cremin. Simonds kept the Eagles off the board to earn his second shutout of the season.

Coach’s quote: “That was a good team win. Everyone on the field contributed and we were really able to open things up. I was glad to see some guys really step up tonight and play the way that I know we can. Not a lot of time to celebrate this win as we get ready for (our next game).” – MV’s Ken Fuller

Highlights:  The Cougars dropped a dual meet to the Bobcats at Lake Sunapee Country Club.

Field Hockey

Winnisquam 1, St. Thomas 0

Key players: Winnisquam – Zaharia Moore (goal)

Highlights: The Bears moved the ball well to keep possession down towards the Saints’ goal and the Winnisquam defense quickly cleared the ball from the circle to preserve the shutout.

Coach’s quote: “The game was fast and kept moving. The Winnisquam offense moved the ball up the field very quickly to keep the playing towards St Thomas’s goalie. Winnisquam’s front line of Brayden Rose, Zaharia Moore and Ashlee Roache were ready to receive the ball to keep it moving. Camilla Cote, mid-defender, worked to keep the ball away from St. Thomas players and reacted quickly when they were moving towards our goalie.
