“Josh had his girls ready to play today and I did not. Hats off to Coe-Brown. We need to forget about this one and get ready for the next game. It is only one game and I know we are better than what we showed today.” – Bow’s Jay Vogt

Boys’ Soccer

Kingswood 6, Coe-Brown 0

Key players: Coe-Brown – Steven Phillips (12 saves)

Highlights: Coe-Brown lost the ball on the dribble 20 times in the match and gave up 24 shots.

Coach’s quote: “This is our second game like this where the wheels seemed to fall off. Interestingly, the Bow team that gave us the same problems also ran a four-middle-diamond-two in which their midfield was really committed to streaking forward on the attack during transitions. Losing the ball the amount of times as we did on the dribble (20) and losing the transition play is a recipe for trouble. In the end, I’m proud of our team working hard until the last whistle and played with class even with the circumstances being really tough. I’m committed to getting them to be more consistent. If they stay hungry and focused, I do believe they will be able to compete with anyone by season’s end.” – Coe-Brown’s Christian Gompert

Records: Kingswood 5-2-2; Coe-Brown 6-3-0

Hopkinton 3, Conant 0

Key players: Hopkinton –  Cam Bassett (goal), Liam Boyle (goal), Owen Wuellenweber (goal), Abram Standefer (assist), Nolan Linstad (assist), Colby Boissy (2 saves)

Highlights: Bassett scored the game’s opening goal in the 12th minute – his first goal of the season – when Standefer played a corner kick to Bassett’s boot. Boyle made it 2-0 in the 39th minute and Wuellenweber scored in the 69th.

Coach’s quote:  “Hopkinton played tough soccer against a Conant team that has suffered through some injuries but can still play strong and fast. Center back Mike Pantano anchored the defense to the shutout, as he tackled assuredly and cleanly a number of times to shut down what looked like dangerous Conant attacks.” – Hopkinton’s Scott Zipke

Records: Hopkinton 9-1-0; Conant 4-4-1

Coach’s quote: “Oyster River was a tough competitor. I felt we had opportunities to score, but could not put the ball in the net. We’ve struggled to score the last three games so we will definitely have some areas of focus to work on in practice. It’ll be nice to have some time to work on things as a team after four games in a row.” – MV’s Jen Colgan

Records: Oyster River 7-2-0; MV 3-4-2
