The New Hampshire Liquor Commission (NHLC) recently raised $60,000 in support of animal rescue and therapy organizations in New Hampshire through its “Allies for Animals” raffle. NHLC’s first-ever scotch whiskey raffle featured an exclusive array of nearly 35 products, with the manufacturer’s suggested retail prices for the collection totaling well over $10,000. Profits from the Allies for Animals raffle benefited The Animal Rescue League of NH, Friends of the Manchester Animal Shelter, and Back in The Saddle Equine Therapy Center, who collectively support thousands of animals and their owners each year. The prize package was awarded to Kathrine Lacey of Meredith.

The New Hampshire Center for Justice & Equity (NHCJE) announced the addition of two individuals, Catherine Kabala, and Jason Bonilla, to its Board of Directors. Their appointments further strengthen NHCJE’s commitment to fostering connections, changing systems, and meeting community needs to create a just and equitable Granite State for all.

The New London Barn Playhouse received an arts in health grant from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts to continue and expand their Improv for Caregivers program. Improv for Caregivers is a communication workshop series for those who care for loved ones with dementia and Alzheimer’s. the Barn Playhouse will offer a series of eight monthly Improv for Caregivers workshops starting this October. The new program will incorporate guest speakers who specialize in different areas of caregiving, social events for caregiver networking and support, and workshops in Newport and Claremont.
