A former Concord man was sentenced to 36 months in prison with two years of supervised release on Tuesday for several felony drug charges, the U.S. Attorney announced. 

Juan Abud, 39, pleaded guilty in February to two counts of distribution of fentanyl and one count of possession with intent to distribute fentanyl and cocaine. 

“The defendant will serve a lengthy sentence for dealing dangerous drugs in New Hampshire,” U.S. Attorney Jane Young said in a news release. “His incarceration should serve as a warning to those that traffic controlled substances across state lines that law enforcement in New Hampshire will investigate and prosecute these crimes to the greatest extent that we can.”

In January 2022, Abud sold 50 grams of fentanyl and was later observed by law enforcement in Lawrence, Massachusetts with an unidentified male carrying a bag, according to the news release. When he returned to New Hampshire later that day, police stopped him and seized 683 grams of fentanyl and 140 grams of cocaine. 

At the time of his arrest in Concord on September 7, 2022, Abud was in possession of a loaded .45-caliber Ruger handgun as well as 155 grams of cocaine, 17 grams of fentanyl, 13.8 grams of methamphetamine.
