Field Hockey

Bishop Brady 2, Gilford 1

Key players: Bishop Brady – Kimble Rose (goal, assist), Camdyn Despres (goal), Ava Archambault (17 saves); Gilford – Livy Keenan (goal), Caroline Guest (6 saves)

Highlights: Rose put the Giants on the board in the first quarter at 13:26 and crossed to Despres for a tip in to make it 2-0 with 1:50 left in the third. Keenan scored with 6:40 remaining in the fourth to put Gilford on the board in a rematch of last year’s Division III championship. The Eagles had a 7-0 advantage in penalty corners in the second quarter, and a 13-2 advantage throughout the game, but Archambault had a great game in between the pipes to preserve Brady’s lead.

Coach’s quote: “We knew today was our second game of the 2023 season, but with that said, the girls had a small piece of last season’s championship loss to Gilford on their minds … Ava Archambault had a great game in net. Very proud of the entire team. We continue to keep working together!” – Bishop Brady’s Kelly Owen

Records: Bishop Brady 2-0; Gilford 0-1
