Commute a new way in October

CommuteSmart NH is hosting a statewide commuter challenge at the end of October. We are encouraging workplaces from across the state to rethink their commuting practices by trying new, more sustainable methods of getting to work. Participants will be rewarded for carpooling, taking public transit, walking and biking/skateboarding, and even working from home. By using these alternate modes of transportation, participants will save money on gas and increase vehicle life, reduce stress and increase productivity, and help to reduce rush hour congestion therefore lowering the environmental impacts of vehicle emissions. The challenge runs Oct. 1 to  31 and is open to all employers and individuals in New Hampshire.

Sign-ups for the challenge will be held on the CommuteSmartNH website, where participants can join their workplace team, log their trips, and see where they stand against other competitors on the new and improved leaderboard. Workplaces and individuals interested in competing should visit the CommuteSmart NH website (commutesmartnh.org/buses-bikes-brooms-challenge) to learn more. Individuals will be entered to win a gift card if they log at least one trip. Drawings will be weekly.

CSNH is a partnership between the state’s nine regional planning commissions, state agencies, and various non-profit transportation-oriented programs, working in collaboration with transit providers and businesses. CSNH actively encourages and assists people to choose sustainable transportation options. For more information, please contact vpagano@cnhrpc.org, or visit  commutesmartnh.org.
