The twice-annual auction of surplus material from state and local governments will take place Saturday at White Farm in Concord. Vehicles from fire trucks and ambulances to lots of sedans will be available as well as a warehouse full of office equipment, tools and various paraphernalia.
The auction, run by James St. Jean Auctioneers, has been held for decades at the state-owned farm, although it went online-only in 2020 due to the pandemic. It’s not uncommon for 1,000 people to register to bid, from used-car dealers to penny-pinching businesses to backyard bargain hunters. Receipts vary from $100,000 to a quarter million dollars for municipal items and two to three times as much for state items.
Vehicles can be previewed Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the farm at 144 Clinton St. The auction starts Saturday at 8:30 a.m. For details, see jsjauctions.com
