Boys’ Basketball

Hollis-Brookline 53, Bow 40

Key players: Hollis-Brookline – Dylan Kelley (19 points), James Arthur (17 points); Bow – Jake Reardon (16 points), Ben Reardon (9 points), Dylan Oosterveen (6 points)

Highlights: The Falcons fell on their home court, while the Cavaliers won their fourth straight victory.

Records: Hollis-Brookline 5-2; Bow 3-3

Merrimack Valley 65, Oyster River 55

Key players: MV – Nic Oglesby (18 points, 8 rebounds), Aiden Gray (15 points, 7 assists), Ethan Dukette (14 points, 2 steals); Oyster River – Owen Jacques (17 points)

Highlights: MV won a hard fought game on the road in Durham, handing previously undefeated Oyster River its first loss of the season. MV was trailed by a point at the end of the third quarter, but was able to close out the game with a 23-12 fourth quarter, knocking down 9 of 11 free throws in the final eight minutes.

Highlights: Pembroke scored 40 points in the first quarter and didn’t look back.

Key players: Kearsarge – Eli Whipple (21 points, 4 rebounds, 4 assists, 5 steals), Liam Miller (16 points, 2 assists), Noah Whipple (15 points, 8 rebounds, 7 assists, 3 steals), Bragen Kinzer (6 points, 2 assists), Austin Needham (3 points, 3 assists, 3 steals), Davin Boehle (3 points, 3 assists, 2 rebounds), Carter Wheeler (2 points), Mason Prescott (2 points), Blake Grieco (2 points)

Highlights: Kearsarge came out on fire making six 3-point shots in the first quarter to take a 32-4 lead. Stevens settled in and played well in the second quarter, cutting the Cougars’ lead to 42-17 at the half. Kearsarge used balance scoring in the second half to increase its lead on Youth Team Night.

Coach’s quote: “What I loved about tonight was the energy in the gym and how hard the boys played, especially seeing Liam Miller come off the bench and bury four 3-point shots to ignite our team. We are a dangerous team when we shoot like that and defend the way we did.” – Kearsarge’s Nate Camp

Girls’ Basketball

Pelham 55, Bishop Brady 27

Key players: Bishop Brady – Payton Bryson (9 points), Maia Dow (season-high 7 points)

Highlights: Bryson led the Giants in scoring despite playing with four fouls for the entire second half and Dow put up season-high numbers, but Brady was outmatched by a larger Pythons squad.

Coach’s quote:  “This was a reckless game with 22 fouls called. Lots of injury stoppages. Pelham was just too big and physical for us to get anything going. We were playing frustrated and we need to learn how to clean that part of the game up.” – Bishop Brady’s Steve Aubertine

Hopkinton 60, Gilford 51, OT

Key players: Hopkinton — Sydney Westover (21 points, 23 rebounds), Shaylee Murdough (10 points), Zoe Bishop (6 points), Avery Chase (6 points), Paige Boudette (6 points); Gilford — Olivia Keenan (25 points), Grace Kelly (16 points)

Highlights: Keenan made two free throws with seven seconds left in the fourth quarter, but Hopkinton drew a foul and Westover hit two free throws with less than two seconds in regulation to send the game to overtime. The Hawks outscored Gilford 11-2 in the OT period.

Coach’s quote: “This was a playoff atmosphere between two top teams. Credit to Gilford, they have an amazing team. Syd carried us in the fourth and OT, and we had a great team effort tonight. Some things to fix still, but we’re starting to play to our potential.” – Hopkinton’s Mike Mahoney

Conant 59, Hillsboro-Deering 16

Key players: Conant – Hannah Manley (21 points); H-D – Emery Greene (7 points), Skyla Auger (5 points)

Highlights: The Hillcats committed too many turnovers and the Orioles controlled the entire game.

Coach’s quote: “Tonight we regressed. Way too many turnovers and missed shots from the paint. We will continue to work and get ready for Friday night’s game.” – H-D’s Bruce Johnson

Boys’ Nordic Skiing

Kearsarge 4th, Hopkinton tied 7th, Bishop Brady 12th

Key players: Kearsarge – Benjamin Clough (5th, 10:50), Ned Stepp (13th), Andrew Brahan (19th), Kelby Frenkiewich (22nd); Hopkinton – Andrew Clarner (10th, 11:13), Miles van Hoff (34th), Jacques McCrillis (39th), Isaac Ohl (40th); Bishop Brady – Earl Mitchell (71st); Fall Mtn. – David Northcott (1st, 9:33)

Highlights: Clough came in sixth out of 75 finishers and was the fastest area skier in a 12-team meet at Proctor Academy. Lebanon (350 points), Keene (349), Fall Mountain (347), Kearsarge (344) and Gilford (343) were a tight top five, while Winnacunnet (286), Hopkinton (281) and Bedford (281) rounded out the top eight.

Girls’ Nordic Skiing

Hopkinton 3rd, Kearsarge 5th

Key players: Hopkinton – Reese Bove (8th, 12:20), Florence Dapice (11th), Maisie Emerson (13th), Amelia Walsh (14th); Kearsarge – Ava Valle (9th, 12:23), Katherine Blagden (15th), Ainsley Frenkiewich (20th), Haley Deegan (48th); Lebanon – Olivia Hanna (1st, 10:16)

Highlights: Bove was the first area finisher, coming in eighth out of 70-plus skiers in a 15-team meet at Proctor Academy. Lebanon (372 points), Gilford (360), Hopkinton (358), Keene (336) and Kearsarge (312) were the top five teams.
