State police responded early Friday morning to a tractor trailer crash on the southbound lanes of Interstate 93 in Canterbury.

Troopers arrived on the scene not long after the report of the accident at 3:45 a.m. to find two heavily damaged tractor-trailers, one of which had gone off the right side of the roadway.

State police said a 2016 Kenworth tractor trailer hauling a load of bark driven by Daniel T. Gagne, 43, of Laconia struck the rear end of a bobtail tractor unit driven by Robert P. Morin, Jr., 66, of Weare.

Gagne’s vehicle went off the right side of the roadway resting on an embankment striking Morin’s vehicle. Morin was able to bring his vehicle to a stop in the right breakdown lane. State police said the crash occurred due to driver inattention and Gagne was cited for following another vehicle too closely. Both vehicles sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene.

No injuries were sustained as a result of the crash.
