For the first time in Bow’s history, the select board leadership positions are exclusively held by women.

After Michael Wayne stepped down as chair and member of the select board, Angela Brennan was appointed to the role, with Eleana Colby serving as vice chair of the five-member board.

“It feels really good to know that the community is in good hands and they trust us to lead the select board with the community's best interest in mind,” said Brennan. “Moms can get this done, moms can lead in our community.”

Although, in the past, women have served as chairperson, this is the first time two women have held leadership positions at the same time on the board.

While leading the select board meeting is a responsibility of the position, Brennan said that she is focused on creating an environment in which everyone’s work is valued and input from community members is prioritized.

Ian Flanagan and Kip McDaniel were elected to the select board in the March elections after Matthew Poulin lost his re-election campaign.
